Climb harder this summer by joining Calgary’s only dedicated mountain sport training facility.

World-class climbers, mountain bikers, skiers and snowboarders…and you.

It doesn’t matter if you’re training for a World Cup or for your weekend climbing project. At Ascension Fitness, we will change the way you think about movement, strength, training, and rehab. Our goal is to transform the way you move, and destroy any patterns of dysfunction.

We do things a little differently here; this is not just a group of people working out, but more a family; a tribe.  If you are looking for a place that approaches injuries and training in an entirely different way, this may be the space for you.

We offer sport-specific training for all kinds of athletes, with a particular focus on those who choose the mountains as the backdrop for their athletic pursuits. The facility boasts an adjustable Moonboard, ample space for fingerboard and campus board training, a bachar ladder and a crack machine, in addition to the usual amenities one would expect to find at a gym – squat racks, pullup rigs, rings, kettlebells and more. And, of course, great coffee and even better company.

Ian’s skill set as a coach is unmatched. He has taught me what I’m capable of doing, and then showed me how much further I can still go. Whether sport-specific training, rehab work on injuries, or mental fortitude, it’s everything you need in someone to help you with taking the impossible and smashing any limit attached to such an idea.

Gordon McArthur, Team Canada Ice Climbing

Ian will quickly tear down all of your excuses and ego-preservation mechanisms. Then he will guide you to becoming a better version of yourself. The results are extremely tangible. The only limiting factor is how hard you are willing to work.

Zak McGurk, Climber

As physicians… we learn the parts of a human body, but there’s a difference between understanding the pieces of an instrument, and making Mozart come out of it. I’d put Ian in the latter category when it comes to analyzing human bodies and being able to tweak them to bring out performance.
